US mountaineer, theologian, and historian W. A. B. Coolidge was known for his knowledge of the topography, geography, and history of the Central European Alps. He taught British history at the Saint David's College and was an Anglican priest, too. He was one of the most prominent climbers of the silver age of alpinism.
